No baby yet, (photo-full catch up)

Well, my "due date" has come and gone and baby girl is still hiding out. I don't think I'd be half as disappointed if I didn't just have two days (and nights) of contractions. They hadn't gotten painful yet, but they were fairly regular (about 10 min. apart) ever since they started on Sunday night/ Monday morning and although they would get stronger, then weaker, then stronger again, then weaker again, the stronger ones were getting a little stronger each time. This morning they had finally gotten to the point that I would have to stop and slow down until it was over, which I thought meant we were getting closer. Buuuuut, then I laid down for a nap this afternoon (since I only slept a few couple-hour-long stretches last night) and since I've been up, they're practically gone. I'm so bummed.

So, here I am taking a quiet day to catch up on some sleep and rest a bit since at SOME point I'll need the energy. I'm starting to understand what overdue pregnant ladies mean when they feel like they're going to be pregnant forever. I always thought, "Oh that silly pregnant girl, of course she's not going to be pregnant forever. It's only been an extra day or two." Ha! Serves me right!

Since I'm logically assuming that there will be a small human exiting my body at some point in the somewhat near future, whom I will be quite busy with after her said exit, I am catching up with a photo laden post of a collection of tidbits from the past week or two...

Luke has started to "write" and will often come to me with that wanting, puppy-dog look on his face repeating hopefully, "Mem? Mem? Mem? Mem?", which I've learned means "pen" (or any other writing implement). I had a notebook for him to scribble away on, but he has since taken to anything paper-like, and then moved right on to the wall. It didn't take him long. Thankfully, I've only been giving him a pencil. Whew! Both Rainer and I are happy to see that he seems to only be using his left hand so far, like his mommy. :o) I believe I heard somewhere that handedness isn't set until later, but I can't remember now at what age and I'm not sure if we can get our hopes up yet. I would just be tickled about a leftie since I'm lefthanded and it's a little unique. Rainer, on the other hand, I know is just thinking one thing: pitching.

I was in the kitchen the other day with my back to Luke, listening to him play with all the plastic cups in "his" cupboard, and when I turned around, he was gone! I hadn't heard him leave the room or anything and I SWORE he was just there a split second ago, (thanks to my "mommy-ears", aka, the eyes on the back of my head.) I was only left puzzled for a moment before I saw his cupboard door open and was greeted with a proud, "Hieeeee!" from the cutest "dish" I've ever seen...
Over the fall or winter, my longtime friend (and Luke's "Auntie" Evy) sent an adorable sunhat in one of her many care packages filled with cute kid's stuff. When Rainer and I were outside painting things for baby girl's room, (pictures of some of that to follow,) Luke finally got to wear it...
Isn't it adorable?I'm loving his little antennae. :o)

And last, for today at least...

Remember that old dresser I was re-doing for baby girl's room? Here's the before...
And now here's the after! Turned out pretty spiffy, huh? (And you can see a bit of her pale yellow, "Twinkle" colored walls behind it.)I'm refinishing another piece for her changing table and have a few more things to do in her room, and then I'll post some pictures of how stinkin' adorable it's all turning out. Hopefully I'll have some actual baby girl photos to post soon, too. (By then, she'll have a name, I promise!)

I remember wishing I had more time with both pregancies, so I guess the grass is always greener. :) I am thinking of you! Definitely keep resting; that's a great idea.

The dresser looks totally amazing! Did you refinish it or just repaint it? Can't wait to see the rest of the baby's room, and can't wait to find out her name, too! So much excitement!

He holds the pen so well for such a little guy!

I love the dresser - it looks great! Wish I were that talented! =)
