So long summer...

*Sigh*...Summer is gone and fall is here. I've never been one to long for the sun, get antsy for summer to get here, or descend into some sort of rainy weather induced depression when fall and winter hit, but this year has been different. This year I couldn't wait for the warm weather to come so I could take my little guy out without bundling him up under layers of polar fleece, or let him play in the grass in the sunshine and explore the outdoors. Now that the cold weather has come, I'm a little sad to see the sun go.

I guess it could also be that he has some cute summer clothes that he barely, or never, got to wear. I am brainstorming for a way to make one particularly adorable outfit from my aunt into a halloween costume, just so he can wear it. It's an extremely cute little jungle explorer shorts and vest set, complete with mini compass, and he is just now big enough to wear it. Know where I can find a 1 year old sized safari-type helmet? I'll have to post pictures of it here at least. Maybe he can just "explore" a closet or two around the house...

Some friends of ours had a end-of-summer barbecue last weekend. We had a blast and were laughing away well into the early evening, past time for Luke to hit the hay. He started getting pretty cranky and we were planning our exit when he ended up crashing on my lap in front of the fire instead.Awwwww... makes me want to break out the polar fleece and hot cocoa.

Awe, that's a sweet picture of you two... we rarely see pictures of you and him.

I know you already know this, but I am totally a fall person! I love long sleeve tees and jeans. Plus it marks the beginning of hunting season for us.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Today I had to put two blankets over Abby's legs when we went for our walk and her hands were still icy! I guess it's already time to get the mittens out. Abby will just start walking right as winter starts in, I suppose. Sigh. Oh well, at least that way she won't know what she was missing until next summer comes! ;o) We'll have to plan a few playdates during the winter when we tired of being cooped up in the house...

Oh, and the dandelion picture is really cool. Did you take it?
